The marketing efforts of EMCID's Board of Directors continue to attract a diversified restaurant product mix that wants to locate in the East Montgomery County area.

"We're proud to welcome these new dining options," said Frank McCrady, President & CEO of the East Montgomery County Improvement District. According to McCrady, construction on the buildings began in mid-December.

The Signorelli Company recently released aerial videos of construction of the Grand Parkway and its own developments concerning the Valley Ranch Town Center. The videos show the progress of the segment of this outermost loop around Houston that will connect Interstate 45 south of The Wooodlands with Interstate 69/U.S. Highway 59 in New Caney. The aerials also show several lakes on the Valley Ranch property.

McDonaldscheckThe Board of Directors of the East Montgomery County Improvement District presented a $10,000 check Tuesday, October 7 to Laura J. Casey, owner of the recently opened McDonald's franchise at the Kroger Marketplace shopping center at U.S. Highway 59 North and Northpark Drive. The check is for infrastructure improvements made to the restaurant. In return, McDonald's will contribute $2,000 a year over the next 5 years to the East Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to high school graduates who live within the district.

Another aspect of the incentive agreement between McDonald's and EMCID stipulated that at least 50 percent of the restaurant's employees be residents within the improvement district's boundaries. "We have great employees," said Casey. "They're hardworking and upbeat. We couldn't ask for a better group of kids and adults." If the franchise maintains for six years the level of employees who live in East Montgomery County, EMCID will give McDonald's a half-cent rebate for that six year period.

rittersribbonsmNot all ice cream is the same. Ritter's Frozen Custard says its frozen treats are "simply the creamiest, best-tasting ice cream ever to cross your palate." The franchise's newest location at Ashley's Texaco, 22510 Highway 59 in Porter, opened Thursday, October 2. EMCID's Board of Directors and members of the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber helped owner Khandaker M. Alam kick off the grand opening with a ribbon cutting.

This is the second Ritter's location in the Houston area and in Texas. The first, which is located in Katy, opened 16 years ago. However, the Porter location is the only one that serves hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches, salads and other items. Ritter's is well known in the northeast for its frozen custards, Italian ices, cones and dishes, sundaes, shakes, smoothies and cakes and pies.

The East Montgomery County Improvement District helped bring the franchise to the area and executed an incentive agreement in August that stipulates that 50 percent of the store's employees be EMC residents.

There's progress at U.S. 59 and Northpark Drive in the Kroger Marketplace shopping center where the new BreWingZ Sports Bar & Grill will be located. The Kingwood location will feature BreWingZ famous buffalo style wings with twenty-six signature flavors. The menu will also include appetizers, soups and salads, fish and chips, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, burgers, sandwiches and beer. However, unlike traditional bars, BreWingZ emphasizes family friendly fun. With a distinct bar catering to those looking to relax and watch the game, and a full separate dining area, BreWingZ is a welcoming place for everyone. A short groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday, October 2. Construction should be completed in January 2015.

EMCID's Board of Directors approved at the September 11 regular meeting incentives to BreWingZ, including an annual cash rebate of 1/2 of one percent for six years provided that BreWingZ staff includes 40 percent or more of those living in East Montgomery County.

Ritter's Frozen Custard Ready to Hire for Porter LocationIt's a sweet gig, and as the mid-September opening of Ritter’s Frozen Custard in Porter draws near, the franchise is looking to hire employees from the East Montgomery County area.

The East Montgomery County Improvement District executed an incentive agreement with franchisee Michael Najar in August that provides that 50 percent of the store’s employees are EMC residents. Initially, the business will employ about 35 people at its end cap location at Ashley’s Texaco, located at 22510 Highway 59.

"If you are committed to great service and attention to detail and would like to be part of the Ritter’s team, please come by and apply in person,” said Najar. “We look forward to meeting you."
